Digital Becomes Part of the Furniture at Harry Corry

Paul Haslam, Creative Director of The Web Bureau Ltd and Mark Corry, Marketing Manager of leading curtain, bedding and home furnishings retailer Harry Corry celebrate the launch of a new custom built e-commerce website designed as part of the company’s investment of over £10,000 in digital technology. The new website is part of a wider digital marketing strategy for Harry Corry, which includes elements of Social Media Marketing, Search Engine Optimisation and Content Marketing.
The site was built to meet the growing number of shoppers seeking an online destination for home interiors products, and despite only launching in November, the website has already contributed 2% of Harry Corry’s overall sales for 2013 to date. This is not surprising, given the growing trend for online shopping. The Office for National Statistics suggests that as recent as January 2013, £546.5m is spent in online sales in the UK – an increase of 8.7%. With online shopping forecasted to grow by 12% in 2013, it is imperative for UK retailers to invest in their online presence. This means, not only creating a website that is functional and easy to use and ensuring that people find your website, but also to bear in mind how people are accessing your website – i.e. via a tablet or smartphone. Mobile commerce has been widely embraced with an increase of 193% in mobile sales in January and 100% increase, from 1.3% to 2.6%, in conversion rates on mobile sites over the past year.
